Gosaikunda lake is a sacred place for both the Hindus and Buddhists. Gosaikunda
Lake (4380m) has great religious significance which is well-known as a
pilgrimage site for Hindus who flock to the site in August during Janai
Purnima.
The walking is through the subtropical forest to
alpine zone with Rhododendron, Oak, pine and birch finally climbing above the
tree line. The first few days are spent ascending through the forests before
you reach treeline at Cholang Pati from where you get your first glimpse of the
towering Ganesh Himal, Langtang Himal and Annapurna in the far distance. Rest
for the night at the tea houses of Lauribinayek and then get up early the
following morning to hike up to the lakes. Return the following days back to
Dhunche and Kathmandu. The trek could be combined with Surya peak (5,100 m)
trekking / climbing, Langtang valley trek and Ama Yangri peak (3,771 m)
climbing in Helambu. This short trek offers great tea house accommodation, so
you don’t need to bring a lot of gear. The number of days listed here is

Gosaikunda trek?
Gosaikunda trek is leveled as medium hard in terms of
difficulty though the level of difficulty depends on other things such as age
factor, your trekking habit, physical fitness, the itinerary you choose or the
weather of the season you are trekking in. These reasons decide whether the
trek is going to be easy or hard. You need to keep in mind that you will be
reaching at 4380 meter in two days from Dunche (2100m). And 2200 meter descend
from Gosaikunda to Dunche in one day if you select 5 days itinerary. If
you are beginner, and not used to trekker but love to trek in the nature and
willing to go; we recommend you choosing 7 days extended version. Sample

Best Time to Do
This Trek
The Gosaikunda lake lies at an alpine altitude of
4610m. The weather is quite unpredictable in these regions. Hence, you need to
be well prepared for weather changes. The months from February to June and September to
December are among the ideal time to do this trek. These months provide the
best weather conditions along with high visibility. You can enjoy the views and magnificence of the place
in its full glory during these months. You can travel during the rest of the year as well.
The visibility will be slightly less during those months. You can also enjoy the occasional snowfall during the
months of November, December, and January.
